China remains the largest supplier of dual-use goods to the Russian Federation. Without such support, Russia would not be able to continue its aggressive war against Ukraine. China also supplies the Russians with components or ready-made combat drones. This was stated by the European Commission spokesman Anouar El Anouni during a briefing in Brussels on Thursday, February 27.
“De facto, these goods have a military purpose. We are also seriously concerned by reports that Chinese companies provide components for the production of combat drones used by Russia on the battlefield, or even supply fully assembled combat drones. Without Chinese support, Russia would not be able to continue its aggressive war against Ukraine with the same force,” the speaker emphasized.
The spokesperson recalled that the EU strongly condemns third countries that continue to support Russia’s aggressive war and calls for an end to all such assistance. This includes not only direct military support, but also the supply of dual-use goods and “sensitive” elements that keep the Russian military-industrial complex afloat.
